I am a lifestyle-based health and nutrition coach certified through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. For years, I have been fascinated by the connections between food and physical performance, community and culture, and the environment. My mission is to raise awareness of the influence food and lifestyle has on the body, and the impact food production has on the planet. A conscientious omnivore, my approach begins with food and nutrition but encompasses all aspects of human health—sleep, breath, movement, mindset and environment. I am motivated by a desire to help people realize their potential and live healthier lives with more joy, energy and gratitude, and less stress, pain and disease.
Since I learned to walk I have been in love with movement. From a young age I learned the strong connection between food and physical performance. I have extensive background in the martial art of Capoeira, plus dance, fitness and CrossFit, and outdoor pursuits. As a top-ranking Capoeirista I’ve taught, performed, and competed throughout the U.S., Brazil, Canada and Mexico. I’ve also worked as a CrossFit coach, fitness instructor and personal trainer. Before coming to Tucson, I co-founded ABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco—an internationally renowned non-profit organization focused on community empowerment through the Brazilian art of Capoeira—and continue to serve as its Executive Director.
As a child of an Italian/Irish family, food was always the centerpiece to our social interactions – a tradition I continue while cooking with friends and family. I love to explore and travel, and I am happier outdoors than in. I enjoy training Capoeira, dabbling in CrossFit, rock climbing, trail running and hiking, the occasional yoga session, and just about any adventure with my dog Churro. I spend too much time in the kitchen experimenting with food, have a ton of cookbooks, but I just look at the pictures, because, as a cook, I wing it. Speaking of cooking, I also have a local micro-business of making and selling bone broth. You can learn more about that at Guru Broo Bone Broth, or https://www.gurubroo.com.
I look forward to many journeys ahead and invite you to join me!
